My father grew up in a bazaar in the city of Kerman, Iran during the 60s and 70s. In 1985 he came to Sweden and in 1993 he started his grocery store,
Spalding Livs in Gothenburg. Our family came to live in a separate affiliation to my parents’ home countries. Sweden meant a new life that existed in
parallel with the previous places. My fathers store kept dreams from East and West.

In The Beginning of the Cold Season, the exile is given a home, a place that follows its own calendar and order. It is therefore designed to be read from two directions, the Western, where the reading is from left to right, and the Persian, from right to left. The photographs are divided into three chapters that show how the movement of time and place go hand in hand.

The work was published as an artist book and was showed at Gothenburg Literature house 2024.
