Letters Without Recipient

In the 1970s and 1980s my parents sent letters to Thailand and Iran. In 2024, five decades later, relatives close to me have passed away and the letters are what remains of an earlier communication. By re-photographing the archived letters together with new ones, the correspondence  activates, but with the realisation that there is no longer a recipient.

In my project I have worked on keeping the white color on the photo paper. White is a color in watercolor that is not classified as a color. White is the unpainted and the empty, the place that arises beyond the meaning of color. In the project, the color white becomes a non-color dedicated to the in-between spaces, areas between borders and lines. White is also meant to visualize the feeling of nothingness and the silence that occurs when you no longer have a receiver.
